Fresh Walls: Build a Gallery Wall

Gallery Wall Angy Paints 2

Gallery walls are such a great way to display your treasures. It is a neat and fun way to share the things that you are interested in and it will certainly communicate your personality to the observer. We have been seeing so many gorgeous wall galleries on hgtv, West Elm, and Lauren Conrad’s home. They gave us great inspiration for our dream wall gallery.

We were able to get great tips from Lauren Conrad’s recent article, Home Makeover: How to Build a Gallery Wall. “…Choose pieces that have a common thread—a certain color for example,” team LC writes. We chose pink! Plus a tad bit of gold here and there. We used gorgeous prints from  Jessica Illustration , CraftMei, and our AngyPaints originals. This tip certainly helped bring every art piece together. Another great tip: “the key is making sure you start with a couple of larger pieces to anchor the wall.” We took her advice and placed the largest frame first! We used our original watercolor painting, “Flamingo Love”. Then we worked around this piece adding smaller and medium sized frames to create a slanted diamond shape. We love the end result. What do you think?

We love all the great ideas and the how to build a gallery wall tutorials on the web! We are also excited to add super unique items that will personalize your wall space even more! Check out these gorgeous Etsy picks to create a fresh and one of a kind gallery wall.

Joyful Friend

The other day I was photographing my art on the porch when I unexpectedly saw the most beautiful butterfly. It was so lovely watching it dance around the stairs. I couldn’t look away, I didn’t want to miss a thing. When it rested on my long cobalt skirt, my soul filled with joy and pure bliss. The colors were spectacular! I even got a chance to gently pet it’s wings. Since this moment brought a huge smile to my face, I had to capture it with a paint brush and savior it!

Life is all about savoring moments like this. The following day, I saw the same butterfly across the street from my apartment. It was a pleasant surprise to encounter such beauty once more.

Enjoy this little poem that fits perfectly with this painting. 🙂

A butterfly came into my room

And the drab walls began to bloom

It lent colours on its wings

Even to my most mundane things

I felt rainbows spouting all around

And also heard a strange and faint sound

Was it the whisper of that butterfly

Conveying a message from the yonder sky?

It flew away to become a dot of a bliss

Yet I felt its parting kiss

It has gone but I still hear

Its mysterious song in my ear.

Fearless Peacock Painting

The semester is over and you know what that means, more time to paint:)

The watercolor peacock painting below is inspired by Eleanor Roosevelt, “Do one thing everyday that scares you”  -Eleanor Roosevelt

This quote is special to me because I try to live by it almost every day. For most of my life I have been afraid of a lot of things, so by exposing myself to all the fears and getting out of my comfort zone I know that with time my fears will subside. Presenting is one of my fears, so this semester I challenged myself and presented several times, even when I was given the opportunity to choose between a paper or a presentation project. Even though this fear is still there every single time I present, I know with time I will be comfortable speaking formally in front of a large crowd.

I named this painting “Fearless”. I hope you like it:)
