DIY: How to Make a 2017 Calendar

After going to four different stores and not being able to find a calendar, I decided to make my own. I have thought about turning my artwork into a calendar before but making one completely from scratch did not come to mind. Since I am completely obsessed with birds I decided to make it bird themed. Every single month has a different bird on it. Of course you can make yours into any theme that you would like. Colorful watercolor splashes would look really pretty as well.

Here is how you can make your own 2017 hand-painted watercolor calendar using supplies from Michaels Ats and Crafts Store.

Supplies:

Step 1: Take 6 pieces of watercolor paper and cut each one in half. Each one should measure 5.5″ x 7.5″. You should end up with 12 pieces for the 12 months of the year.

Step 2: Write all the months of the year and days of the week in black marker. You can change it up by placing the calendar on the top or bottom of the paper like the above photo.

Step 3: Let your creative juices flow and paint anything you desire. I chose to paint my favorite birds. 😀

This is one of my favorites! I made sure to paint my favorite bird on my birthday month. Can’t stop painting peacocks! 😀

I used this cute pedestal frame that I found at Michael’s. The clip makes it easy to change the pictures or it can  hold all of them at once.  I really like the rustic look.:D

Instead of the pedestal frame you have the option to whole punch the top middle of the paper and add a string or you may also display your desktop calendar with a binder clip.

Thanks for viewing! I hope you enjoyed this post.

What theme will you use for your calendar? 😀

Hand Painted Shells

I recently relocated close to the shore in New Jersey. It has been a wonderful experience to be very close to sea since I find many treasures that wash up shore during my long walks with my pup, Sofi. Most of my findings include slipper shells, bay scallops, moon snails, oysters, blue mussels and if I am really lucky sand dollars. However, my main treasure is focused on  finding surf clams. My collection is growing larger and larger everyday. Last week I was running low on watercolor paper so I decided to make use of what I had at hand; surf clams. I decided to paint on them. I have a total of 7 already and plan on painting many more! I also think that they would make excellent unique Christmas gifts for friends and family.

They are posted on my Etsy shop at this link https://www.etsy.com/shop/AngyPaints?ref=pr_shop_more. Check them out before the go fast! 😀
